This waffle maker seems to be available under many brand names including Cuisinart, Russel Hobbs, Salton, and at least one other that I can't think of. I first tried to order the Hoffritz through ihome via Amazon but that has been a complete fiasco. Never use ihome (aka Warehouse Outlet of Chicago), I've wasted 2 months with them so far and still don't have my money back (they don't seem to have any new or working Hoffritz waffle makers).Anyway, I ordered this one through Chefs Catalog as a close out for $30 under a different brand name. The waffle maker is terrific. It cooks evenly and has easy to use controls. The first couple of waffles stuck a little, but since then, I've had no problems with sticking. The only thing they could improve on would be to increase the overflow "gutter" around the grid.
I recently tried the large VillaWare belgian waffle maker but it cooked very unevenly, even after being replaced by the manufacturer.
Description of Hoffritz HZBW4 4-Slice Belgian Waffle Maker
With a Crisp button for crisp-outside, moist-inside waffles and four browning settings, this waffle maker bakes four 4-1/2-inch-square Belgian beauties with deep pockets for holding lots of butter and syrup or fruit. Electronic controls ensure precision, and a floating hinge permits waffles to rise to full height. An LED screen displays the browning choice. A light shines and a four-beep signal sounds when the grids are properly heated and waffles are finished. The grids are nonstick for readily releasing waffles and easy cleaning. The waffle maker has 1,400 watts of power, is heavy, is ruggedly constructed of cast aluminum for a lifetime of use, and looks great, with a smooth-finish golden accent band on the back end, a black, rubberized stay-cool handle, and a brushed finish.
