this deli quality slicer is just that, a slicer, it cut thru ham and turkey and pork just fine but don't use it for steaks with a bone, it's just not power enough to accomplish this, it can cut them but it struggles to do so, so use it for what it's made for deli meats and cheeses, you will be happy with this as it is a well made item
Description of Hoffritz HZFS1 Food Slicer
Perfect for cheese, sandwich meats, roast beef, bacon, bread, and vegetables like tomatoes and zucchini, this compact, 100-watt electric appliance makes it possible to slice unlimited quantities of food quickly, safely, and uniformly. A knob covered in soft, slip-resistant Santoprene precisely adjusts slicing thickness from wafer-thin to extra thick, and an electronic scale weighs food as it's sliced. Both selected thickness and weight are displayed on the control panel's LCD screen atop the slicer. Pressing a "weight reset" button subtracts the weight of the slicer's transparent plastic food tray (or other container) when it's on the scale so only the food's weight--in grams or ounces (to hundredths)--is shown. When not in use, the food tray flips over to serve as a scale cover.Several safety features protect against harm from the slicer's 7-1/2-inch-diameter, stainless-steel blade. A sturdy, plastic feeder slides food to the blade. It has a guard that prevents hands from getting close to the blade and a rail for grasping and pushing. A transparent plastic food press attaches to the feeder's rail with a hook. Grasping that hook and the rail simultaneously allows one-hand operation while also pressing food toward the blade. The food press's face is covered with points that grip food securely. For safety when the slicer is not operating, the feeder can be locked in place covering the blade. Food press, feeder, food tray, and blade remove for hand washing. Four AA batteries (included) power the scale and control panel. If unused for 15 minutes, the control panel automatically shuts off to save batteries. The slicer is ruggedly constructed of cast aluminum (with a stainless-steel panel next to the blade), has built-in carrying handles, and accommodates up to 4.4 pounds of food. It measures 15-3/4 inches wide, 12-1/4 inches high, and 12 inches deep and carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack
